Córdoba Córdoba -

Brief history of the origin of the Aero Club Córdoba.

The entrance to the airfield

With the start of the dawning century of aviation in the world, and as such began in our country.
Thus the testimony to those pioneers as they were Jorge Newbery, Aaron Anchorena and Theodore Fells. No less important were those who anonymously began to forge our civil aviation.
In Cordoba, it is known that in 1915 there was already an enthusiastic group of aviators, who practiced at Race Course (now located Yapeyu-General Paz district). Over the years, those visionaries came together to form the "Aero Club Córdoba."
Thus, this institution had legal status in August 2, 1919.
The weather made the institution grow and hence the need to operate in more appropriate place. So he moved to a new place, known as "The Beaches" currently Aviation Officers School located on Route 20.
there and after a terrible fire in a hangar in wood and canvas in 1924, the Aero Club Hangar Córdoba buy today with the Government of Cordoba donations and contributions from others of the President of the Aero Club Engineer Conil Paz, Dr. Telasco Castellanos, Dr. Stephen G. Juarez and others.
In the hangar (next to be declared a Historic and Cultural Heritage of Córdoba) was born in Cordoba Airport (later moved to White Straw), also born Córdoba Gliding Club (former Condor Glider Club) for their facilities as companies passed The Panagra (Pan American Grace), Airway Inc., Aero Posta Argentina SA, planes as DC2, DC3, Junkers, etc..
Due to increased aviation activities of the FMA and civil activities in Las Playas move to a new campus in White Straw, Cordoba International Airport today, but this site was not definitive, the Aero Club in 1949 receives as the current land grant of about 100 ha in blocks Road 60 Km 7 1 / 2, from the time the Aero Club Córdoba has its own home.
